We’ve been in Rwanda for two weeks. The time goes so fast. The weather here is like spring every day. Sometimes it rains in the afternoon. Yesterday was a down pour, but then it clears up and is cool. Lots of people say “Muramotse” , which means good morning. Also Nelson and I are wished a good afternoon and evening by kids and grownups alike. Sometimes, the words don’t come out for me and what does come out is some word which sounds similar but means something ridiculous. Just this morning I looked at an old man and said, “thankyou” instead of good morning. I’m also slowly becoming a cell phone expert. Everyone has a cell phone. There are stores all over that sell minutes and phones. Mine has Arabic letters on it. I haven’t sent a text message yet, but I do have numbers stored in my directory.
We spent the morning getting our water filters boiled after soaking them for a bunch of hours. It turns out that some of the screws won’t go back in, so we have to see about replacing them. Last week, I tried to upload some photos and used up all my computer time. I guess I’ll have to wait to up load any pictures or movies until I get a connection that I am not paying for.
Every day all day is a real feast for the eyes….ladies in beautiful cloth. People on bicycles carrying rabbit hutches, people dressed up for church, big construction pipe, baskets of food…anything. Also there are a lot of motorcycles. People walk along the road all day and up until around 9 at night. The road is packed with people and children walking
